SF Condos

Project Brief

Proposal for a new construction of an Affordable Housing Property in the San Francisco Tenderloin District.

One of 8 units on a single floor, this apartment utilizes a Japanese-style lengthwise layout to allow for an open & airy residence. This unit features a double height bay window, 2 full sized bedrooms, and plenty of storage space build in mind for a new family.

Schematic Design

All units feature an open concept layout where living, dining, and entertaining can coexist in one space. All materials & cabinetry design chosen for these spaces reinforce a streamlined motif that is crucial to making these slender homes efficient and welcoming.

The two-story design uniquely allows for private and public spaces to separate in program, furthermore reinforced by the designation of a secondary bedroom and a master suite.

Engulfed in Light

The 20 foot window walls in each apartment either utilize one large Victorian style window or bay windows to allow for as much natural light as possible while keeping to San Francisco tradition.

As this building could only utilize north & south windows due to its location, pinpoint light wells are integrated within the plan to allow for natural illumination at all entrances.

Concept Design

While serving the next generation of San Francisco families with many needs, the priority of the facade was to maintain the visual culture of the city while integrating new technologies.

Noting how the original construction of this building was for a late 1890's garage, the exterior elevation echoes this history of the site.
